Abstract:
Time-space narration is an interdisciplinary perspective on the regeneration of architectural heritage, and at the same time it returns to the ontology of architectural heritage in the history and culture, which comes from the past and points to the future. The change from circle to square in the original architecture, the perspective of noble middle in the traditional architecture, and the form expression in the modern architecture are all patterns of time-space narrative. The use of time-space narrative in architectural creation and architectural heritage regeneration is conducive to cultural inheritance, historical construction, and spatial reconstruction. The space-time narrative paths and strategies for the regeneration of architectural heritage are as following: intervention (space-time juxtaposition), contrast (space-time alienation), connection (space-time stitching), extension (space-time expansion), and built-in (space-time nesting). Telling stories with design requires designers to be able to interpret and subtly reproduce narrative materials in history and culture, and to create novel, reasonable, intriguing effects and details in combination with context, space, and place.
